Thursday 21 January 2010

Well well well, ladies and gentlemen! The end of January and early February are going to be a busy few weeks for me, so i thought i would share with you all what i have coming up and hopsefully i will get to see one or two of you at the shows. If so, please come say HI!

Right, it all starts off on January 23rd, where i shall be in attendance at Heresy N Heelz in Birmingham! This promises to be a spectacular night of alternative burlesque entertainment, and i will be attending as purely a fan, so no performance from me.....although, i may have a trick or two up my sleeve..... ;-)

With this being their first show at The Asylum, in Birmingham, i am sure they will be pulling out all the stops to make the show a rousing success, and i cant wait to see what the performers come up with!

Next up, January 29th and the return of Red Rocks! Burlesque to
Birmingham City Centre.

Having had some time away from this show, its going to be great to finally have it back! Hosted in the fabulous Island Cocktail Bar, Suffolk Street, Birmingham, this all red-headed burlesque revue always delivers laughs, smiles and some of the best performances i have personally ever seen. Of course, i may be slightly biased as this is the show that started it all off for me, back in May 2008 when i rather nervously took to the stage as a compere for the first time.

This time we have performances from Miss Cherryfox, Daquiri Dusk, Jubilee Swoon, Lexxi Sexx, Red Sarah & Vendetta Vain, as well as whatever i see fit to do, as once more Fey Tish has given me free reign to do as i please! You have all be forewarned...

Oh, and of course, making a welcome return to the night is our little prize giveaway, delightfully entitled "Who has got the best crap in their pocketses?". So please remember, if you are coming, make sure you bring your most outrageous, unusual or downright bizarre item in your pocket!

Following on from this, February 5th sees me make my official bow as host/compere for Teazed Up, to held for the first time at Scruffy Murphy's Bar, Birmingham.

Now, I did unofficially work this show already, but February sees me confirmed as official host and i really cannot wait, its gonna be lots of fun! The organisers of this show are awesome, the crowd seemed really up for it in January and i really do hope we get the same response from all the guys and gals at this show too!

With performances from Miss Felicia Noir, Peski DeVille, Miss Von Vamp & Chez Dior, as well as a live band in the form of Godsize, I am positive we will have a most triumphant show and kick off Teazed Up's stint of being hosted at Scruffy Murphy's with a show to be truly remembered!

Then, not pausing for breath (although maybe a Red Bull or two!) I have my next show! On February 6th I am delighted to say I will be working as compere for the amazing Black Country Burlesque Revue, at The Bear Tavern in Smethwick, Birmingham.

This is another show i am really looking forward to making my debut at, although some in the know may argue that i have already performed at this show, albeit as my bizarre and unique alter ego, Vlad.....

Anyway! The line up for this one is another belter! With Miss Lola Pops, Billie Rae, Phil Hasted, Miss Ditzy Diamond, Miss Peski DeVille, Felicia Noir, Twinkel Pink and Lily Harlot, as well as some fantastic singing from Flash Harry, I truly hope I do BCB proud and continue to build on the fine reputation this team are building for themselves!

February 12th is the date of my next show, where i will be travelling all the way down to Hastings to open the night at Burlesk!

Part of my aim for 2010 is to build upon some work i did toward the back end of last year as a stand up comedian and magician. The ladies at Burlesk have given me the chance to perform a 10-15 minute slot at the very start of the show to warm up the crowd, get them wooping and cheering and in the right frame of mind for the rest of the show. I do feel oddly nervous about this, but nerves are good, right?

I do have a set lined up and working on some new material too, so by the time this show comes around i am confident i will have an awesometacular set to go!

With performances from Miss Rose Thorne, Miss Peski DeVille, Miss Severine Sinful and Miss Domino Burlesk, I truly hope i do the show justice and can leave with a sense of achievement, and maybe even a few people laughing WITH me (although, i will take it if they choose to laugh AT me instead! As long as there is giggles!).

February 13th and the next show is up - namely Mister Joe Black's Travelling Side Show at the Haygate, Wellington, Telford.

Now this show does promise to be a little bit special, as it is the first show being put on by "Missy Chango's Presents...." since i joined the team, so will be very important for me as it will have a massive impact on what i do in the future. Its also a unique one as i will be stage-managing. For the first time. Ever!

The line up for this one is truly spectacular, with Miss Khandie Khisses, Mysti Vine, Honey Wilde, Miss Delilah Dufoe, Miss Peski deVille, Lexxi Sexx, Miss Raven Meadows & Miss Faith Le Fey, as well as comedic turns from Phil Hasted, Lee Grant and Phil Mccullough. The show is being hosted by the amazing Joe Black, and promises to feature amazing feats of sideshow, side splitting humour and truly glamorous burlesque!

And finally (for this post, at least!) on February 14th I will be compering at The Garter Lounge, in Hugglescote, Leicester.

At the end of 2009, i did my very first opening slot as a stand up comedian here, and off the back of that i got booked to fully compere this show, which is an amazing compliment for which i would like to thank Darkteaser for profusely!

I really enjoyed the last show, some fantastic performances and although the crowd was small, they certainly werent shy in joining in with some of the performances and had plenty of laughs and giggles to go round!

Performances at this one will come in the shape of Darkteaser, Missy Malone, Starla Haze, Peski DeVille, Bam Bam Blue, Lexxi Sexx, Dixie Black and Stage Door Johnny.

I do so hope to see as many of you as possible at these shows, and feel truly honoured to be sharing stage time with all the performers listed.

Now, if anyone has any contacts at Relentless or Red Bull, so i can apply for sponsorship ( I think i may really need it!) i would be most grateful!

Thank you for your time, and stay giggling!

The general clown, El Kapitan
